The XO mission

XO Materials was founded in the UK in 2021 by a team of scientists, engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs with the purpose of bringing passive radiative cooling technology to world.

We observed that in nature creatures commonly evolved the ability to stay cool by developing material technology that combine high reflectivity with high infrared emissivity. The Saharan Silver Ant, the Longicorn Beatle, and the Comet Moth all evolved to converge on this seemingly simple principle. At XO, our mission is to develop this natural, elegant cooling system into designs suitable for humans.

The time for this technology is right now. Air conditioning accounts for 10% of global energy consumption and that number is only set to increase with industrialization and climate change. XO Materials is set to become a key part of the climate solution.
